Project details & Design elements.
Customer is utilizing a multi-energy stainless steel heat transfer tank taking solar thermal & Geothermal heating inputs & distributing heat energy to low temperature radiant heating & domestic hot water uses to offset fossil fuel consumption.
1.) Pool Construction-Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) & aluminum.
EPS Foam contains no damaging CFC’s or HCFC’s and is 100% recyclable. Aluminum is the most commonly recycled post-consumer metal in the world.
The Radiant Pool has R-10 insulated wall panels making it the only pool on the market that is energy efficient and environmentally friendly.
2.) Radiant tubing serves as the heating source for his 28,000 gallon “green” swimming pool. By using conduction as the heat source in the form of heated concrete, a much smaller glycol based solar array can heat large volumes of water, making the technique cost effective and providing more utility as a energy system for the home owner as conventional solar pool heating arrays are not suitable for integration into a homes mechanical system. A modest sized 4 collector array is suitable to maintain comfortable swimming temperatures in the summer and double as a heating/domestic hot water source in the non swimming season.
3.) The Pool is Manufactured in NY State, and the Solar Installation and integration was designed & Installed by The Radiant Store, A new York State owned and operated business. It was a collaborative effort between 2 home grown NY State companies.
Note***This project is the first to incorporate Solar Thermal Radiant with a “green” high efficiency pool in the United States. We are proving NY State is a place to shine in the Solar business.
4.) Multiple Renewable Energy inputs:
The integration of 2 renewable sources utilizing innovative equipment & cutting edge solar hydronic piping strategies allow for the consumer to take advantage of both renewable resources and eliminating his need for fossil fuels.
5.) Piping & Control innovation: Setting the Standard.
The Radiant Store Received funding for Research & Development in 2010 for expanding the solar Thermal market in NY State. We have developed proprietary Piping & Solar Hydronic techniques that have been the hallmarks of the Radiant Store growth story. Since it’s inception in 2005 we have grown the local business to 12 employees approaching 2 million in Revenues in 2011.
6.) PV integration-
The home has a 6kw solar PV array completing the customers goal of having a net zero carbon footprint.
7.) The project clearly demonstrates a positive message:
You can enjoy reduced energy consumption without sacrificing comfort through incorporating alternative energy systems into your homes design.
