Participating: Gloria Jean Knorr, Frank Sullivan, Terrance Rusch - facilitator, Ruth Ann Smalley, Tina Cochrane, Mark Schaeffer, Dan Gibson, Ryan Rose, Sandy Steubing - scribe.
Terrence called the meeting to order and we read the June notes. Sandy offered to be on Ryan’s radio show, The Change Makers, to speak about Transition.
We evaluated the Crisis of Civilization movie and decided 1) 30 people was a good turn out, 2) The discussion format worked well but the breaks from the movie didn’t need to be so frequent, and 3) Sandy will show the movie again at one of the branches - probably Arbor Hill.
We discussed movie venues and selections as part of our Outreach effort. In the end we decided to show the short “Story of Stuff” for First Friday of September at the Hudson River Coffee House at 229 Quail which is also where we’ll meet next month. At that time we’ll advertise “The Age of Stupid” for a fall showing - venue TBD.
We discussed Terrence’s fine Livingston Ave. Bridge letter and decided to sign our names individually as members of Transition Albany. In this way we don’t commit people who were not at the meeting to something they didn’t vote for.
Sandy offered to organize an Earth Day bike ride for 2013. She will outreach to a coalition of groups.
Next month we will not meet at FUUSA. See below.
