(Re)Imagining Troy: From Oil Dependency to Local Resilience
Let's put together a collective submission to The Arts Center's (Re)Imagining Troy Project that portrays a future of local resilience and community well-being.
Monday, Feb 4, from 7 to 8:30 pm
The next Food Group meeting at Christ Church, 35 State St, Troy (Red Door Church)
Remember to bring someone else who is interested in food! Our group is just forming so our purposes, goals and activities are still in flux. For now, we are focusing on connecting the food groups that already exist in order to share information, and perhaps work together to design and support a local food system.
We will have a presentation by Tolu Fashoro from Community Gardens on the Albany Food Justice Coalition, also a description by Abby Kinchy from RPI on the Food Security Survey completed by students from Tech Valley High School with the collaboration of RPI graduate students. The model used was intended to be replicable.
We will also begin to identify the various groups working on food in Troy, with the intent of reaching out to them to hear about and celebrate their work. We will also revisit the "food expo" idea, perhaps fleshing it out a little more. There will be an opportunity to announce upcoming events, so bring news of your events to announce.
So come and join us to build community well-being in Troy! For questions, please contact Liz Pohlmann, 518-256-5718 or lizpohlmann@nycap.rr.com
