The Delmar Farmers Market recently earned the distinction of being included among the “101 Best Farmers Markets in America” according to The Daily Meal, one of the largest online culinary news sources.
With over 8,000 farmers markets across the country, the Delmar Farmers Market was selected as one of the top markets based on an array of criteria including the quality and variety of the products sold, how affordable those products are, the general atmosphere at the market, and the friendliness of the vendors and market managers.
“From vegetables and spices to vegan dip and fresh-baked items, the market is Delmar’s go-to source for the freshest and most flavorful ingredients and ready-made food,” writes The Daily Meal.
“The success of our market is 100 percent a reflection of the quality of our farmers, bakers, craftspeople and other vendors,” said Paul Tick, the manager of the Delmar Farmers Market. “With a lot of hard work, our market has become a true highlight of the community here in the Capital Region.”
Since 2009, the Delmar Farmers Market has grown to include more than 60 vendors and about 2,000 lively shoppers each week. Local vendors have sold over $2 million dollars in fresh foods and handmade crafts, and several vendors including Gatherers Granola, The Cheese Traveler and Fin The Fishmonger have opened businesses after gaining loyal customers at the market.
The Delmar Farmers Market is open Saturdays, June through December, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. During the summer months, the market is located in front of Bethlehem Central Middle School on Kenwood Ave. The market moves indoors during the fall months.
